If you use Instagram, you've probably noticed the new design. It's been sparking an outrage by users of the platform for what are largely insignificant matters of personal taste, but it says something about us.
Tobias Van Schneider, a very successful user interface designer at Spotify shares his thoughts about the new design and how we often fail to appreciate change. In his words: "When you ask people in general, humans, what they think of change, they usually say ""I like change, I champion change, I love it - change is great."" But the thing is, they only like it in theory. We like change in theory as long as it doesn't affect our personal lives."
Maybe this is a blanket statement that is being exaggerated, but Tobias makes a point. It's a good reminder for ME to not get stuck inside my own perspective, and to always be open to change.
"Instagram could have changed it to any logo, it could have changed it to your favorite color, and you would've hated it. Just because it changed." -- Tobias Van Schneider
